Problems Saving

How to fix problems with PennyPerfect unable to save files

If you're getting error messages from PennyPerfect about being unable to save a file, this page explains how to resolve this problem.

The problem can be because the file is read only, or security settings prevent it being overwritten.

Check the file is not 'Read Only'

To check the file is not read only follow these steps;

  1. Close PennyPerfect
  2. Open the directory where you have installed PennyPerfect, (by default this is C:\PennyPerfect).
  3. Right click on the file that was displayed in the error message.
  4. From the pop up menu, select properties.
  5. The dialogue window that pop ups will show the properties of the file.
  6. If the checkbox 'Read Only' is checked, uncheck it, then close that window and try PennyPerfect again.
  7. If the file was not marked as read only or this does not fix the problem, try the next solution below.

Running as Administrator

By default programs are run in Windows with non-Administrator privileges which may prevent some files from being saved. To fix this follow these steps;

  1. Close PennyPerfect
  2. Right click on the PennyPerfect shortcut or .exe file, then click on Properties, then click the Compatibility tab.
  3. If you do this when logged on as a standard user (not an administrator) you will need to type in the administrator's password.
  4. Check the 'Run this program as an administrator' check box.
  5. Close that window and try PennyPerfect again.
